There is still a lot to report from Japan. It's already three months ago, but hopefully still interesting.

Kyoto is a really worth seeing city. Although we have been there for a very short time, but nevertheless we experienced a lot.
It's always the best to explore a new area by foot, this is at least my opinion. So we did in Kyoto.

Kitaro (1870-1945) gedacht. Philosophisches erspare ich mir aber hier.
We were walking along the philosophers path - one of Kyoto's most beautiful walks especially during cherry blossom. It was a little bit too early for cherry blossom, but this was only an advantage for us. There were nearly no tourists doing the same thing as we did. By the way this path was named by the Japanese philosopher Nishida Kitaro (1870-1945).

Our ryokan - we once had to try this kind of Japanese accommodation - was not far away from the Nanzen-ji temple.

Nanzen-ji is one of the most famous Zen temples of Japan and was originally built mid of the 13th century by emperor Kameyama as a retirement place. Today it is the main temple of the Rinzaishu-Nanzen-ji school, one of the Zen religions.

The temple complex is spacious! When we would have looked at everything interesting which was catching our eyes, like the San-mon-gate, it would have taken the whole morning just for visiting the Nanzen-ji.

We finally found it, Tetsugaku-no-michi. It leads along a channel and along not yet blossoming cherry trees.

Practical for us that nearly nothing is blossoming. Therefore we have a good view to Japanese properties.

Time for lunch! After looking at this menu card we notice how hungry we got. Besides of that in the meantime it got pretty chilly. So this little ramen restaurant comes just in time.

Of course I have to try the offered ramen soup! Maybe the speciality of the house? Some local people at the neighbour table eat the same menu.

Sehr lecker!!
Yummy!!
I wonder who will move into this new building located in an exclusive exposure next to the philosophers path?

The number of the souvenir stores increases now. I would describe their range of goods - like everywhereelse - from exclusive, practical to pretty kitschy.

The raked up white sand in front of Ginkaku-ji shall obviously symbolize mount and lake.
But never copy it in your garden!!! It will never work!

We are lucky that we came here mid March, because the flow of tourists is assessable. When it would be warmer we would have stand in line here.

In the meantime it got really cold and started to rain. I really can't imagine to climb a hill at this weather dressed in kimono and getas!
