Versprochen!
No!!! Not again another post about Tokyo!
I promise! This one is my last post about Tokyo and this time it's about a garden as is right and proper for a garden blog.

My very last post about Japan will be published in the near future - about Yokohama.

It's the last late afternoon before our flight back to Germany and I finally would like to see a Japanese garden together with my favourite person whom I soon have to leave behind.

Our son already left us and went alone by subway back to the hotel. (Remember, he forgot his wallet there!) As 18-year old guy he likes challenges and in the meantime he learned to understand the Tokyo subway system much better.

And we left-behind parents can finally start our romantic walk through
Hama-rikyu Gardens.
We go to Shiodome, another skyscraper quarter of Tokyo. After finally cutting surface from the underground we puzzle over the right direction to the garden.

Soon we found the route to the garden. At the end it wasn't that far away from the subway station.

At the same time we cross a pond, the Shioiri-no-ike, fed by seawater. It's also the only remaining seawater pond from the Edo era within Tokyo.
Do you see how the skyscrapers are reflected in the sea?

In front of us stands on a little isle in the pond Nakajima-no-ochaya. Once it was used as rest house and viewpoint from the Imperial Court nobles.

Today it's again a teahouse.

At any rate we don't want to miss the chance to visit it.
To get to the entrance we have to pass a little stone garden. The stone garden looks a little bit trampled because every visitor has to remove the shoes before entering the teahouse.

When you want to stay outside on the patio you have to put on special patio shoes.

We order green tea with Nerikiri, a traditional sweet. There is also a certain order how to eat the Nerikiri and how to drink the tea. Well - but I will spare this here.

Now we leave this nice little teahouse behind and walk to Tokyo Bay.

Now it's time for us to leave the garden. There would be still a lot to see here but in the meantime it has gotten late and we have to hit the road back to the hotel.
Aren't you the same opinion as me that Hama-rikyu-Gardens is a wonderful green oasis at the edge of Tokyo?
