Who hasn't undertaken a walk in the woods in the golden October yet?
If not, there is no more time to waste as long as the forest shows itself from the most colourful side of the year!
It's a sunny October morning and I take - as every day - a walk with my dog through the woods. As this day started so beautiful for us I am in the mood for a longer turn.
Will uns jemand begleiten?
Does anybody want to join us? To start off with: At the end it took us about 2 hours!
I already have a turn in my mind which we already went some months ago but from the opposite direction.
Here we have to make a turn and walk up into the woods.
Roundly you don't hear and see either a human being or an animal there, so I am cheeky and soon I let my dog from its leash.
Mia is very good and stays on the path as long as she can play the leader.
After walking a little while I recognize this part of the forest again.
Wir laufen bergab...
We are walking down dale...
...und wieder bergauf.
...and uphill again.
Und der Wald wird jetzt viel dichter.
The forest becomes now much thicker.
By the wayside I find some yellow boletuses - the first one of this year. Would I have come by some weeks earlier I would have taken them at once. Now they are too big and too much eaten up. As they are still standing here, this obviously does mean that since a longer time nobody has walked on this path before me.
By the way, many mushrooms are growing in this forest but unfortunatley no eatable ones which I know.
Oh, somebody was here before me but not by foot.
While Mia is still sniffing around a little bit, I still find some other interesting mushrooms. Does anybody know them?
Komisch?
Strange? Shouldn't have made the path somewhen a left turn?
We keep on walking and then it's all clear! We missed the junction! This place I don't know at all!
I do take pictures the whole time with my smartphone and suddendly it strikes me that my cell phone has a map app! According to that there are only two alternatives, to continue walking straight on and then take a big detour on the roads at home, or turn round and walk the same way back again.
I decide for the second option! But actually I really don't like it that I have to go back the same route which I came here!
Is this one a trail marking? Well, I just make a right turn here!
Isn't there a hunting stand left ahead, therefore there has to be a path in front of me?!
I presume that I already have seen this area before. Basically I do have a pretty good sense of direction! Or have I gotten lost in the woods now? So far I always found my way out of the forest!
What's about you? Have you ever get lost in the forest?
Now I am very sure that we lost our way. Anyway we continue walking even though the path becomes now smaller and steeper. Somewhere the forest has to have an ending!
Oh, schaut mal! Eine Pilzfamilie überquert gerade den Weg!
Oh, look! A mushroom family crosses the path!
Better yet a mushroom command, which blocks my way. Because this one develops now to a fitness trail. Now I decide just to cut across country down the steep slope. How good that there are many trees in the woods to hold to!
Meanwhile Mia has already made it long ago out of the woods and frolics around on the meadow below.
Geschafft!
It's done! The forest lays behind us and know I also recognize the area again.
Aus diesem Waldstück sind wir gerade herausgekommen...
Just now we came out of this forest area...
...and in this forest we soon walk in.
Mia still has to take the chance to spurt over the meadow.
We know the place again and from now on we just have to go straight on.
Here is the exit of the forest. It's there where we walked in at the beginning.
Bald zuhause! Die Glocken unseres Dorfkirchleins bimmeln gerade.
Soon at home! The bells of our little village church are jingling right now.
Remark for American speakers: I'm not familiar with the English translation for mushroom sorts, in case somebody has another proposal...
